There we were, in a building supplies store after some chicken wire to hopefully stop the dogs getting into the veggie patch.
After coming across very sarcasic (my middle name) and disturbing about three staff members from their personal conversation and telling them that a customer needed assistance (i.e. Me!!!), I eventually said to the staff member that I required 2 yards of chicken wire.
His response "We only sell it by the foot". He didn't suggest anything about calculating feet into yards, so that he could satisfy his customer. No...it was a case that I had to work out that there are 3 feet to a yard, therefore, I'd need 6 foot. This is basic arithmetic calculations that even a 12 year old should be able to do, so a grown man in his twenties should have no problem with metric conversions!!
After all that - I noticed that he was measuring the chicken wire out with a metre rule......go figure!
